The 'intelligent decision support system' named LTLZone, which was developed by a team of 3 people at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), with the aim of enabling logistics companies to provide better quality service at low cost, received a double award.
LTLZone, which came to life as a result of nearly 3 years of work, became the only project awarded in the 'corporate' category at the Logistics Association (LODER) 11th National Logistics Project Competition. LTLZone received the best practice award in the field of information systems in logistics at the 'Logistics Awards 2022' organized by Dokuz Eylul University Maritime Faculty and Aegean Logistics Association (ELODER).
IUE Faculty of Business Administration Department Head Assoc. Dr. Ozgur Ozpeynirci, Dr. LTLZone, prepared by Faculty Member Sinem Tokcaer and 2021 graduate of the department, Deniz Karvan, provides companies with many advantages.
REDUCES CARBON FOOTPRINT
The company representative, who registers to the system by entering the 'LTLZone.com' website, records the country and city information to which the cargo will be delivered. Then, the system automatically determines how many trucks or trucks and which loads should be placed by determining nearby locations within seconds. Thanks to the 'LTLZone', which also sifts for the type of transported products, companies get rid of the trouble of unnecessary kilometers and their vehicles traveling with low capacity. LTLZone reduces the carbon footprint as well as the transportation costs of the users.
OUR PROJECT PROVEN ITS SUCCESS
Head of IUE Logistics Management Department Assoc. Dr. Özgür Özpeynirci said that they proved their success by receiving awards among many projects across Turkey. Özpeynirci said, “We attach great importance to producing projects for the logistics sector. In addition, we aim to provide young talents to our country by providing employment to our new graduates and to create a good working environment for them. Deniz Karvan, a graduate of the Department of Logistics Management in 2021, joined our company as our first full-time employee after her internship in the fourth grade. Deniz also supported us during our student years. We aim to increase the number of our colleagues in the coming months. LTLZone also received the jury's special award at the 'Atlas Logistics Awards' competition held within the scope of the International Logitrans Transport Logistics Fair in Istanbul last year. The awards we have received and the positive reactions we have received are indications that we have made the right project.”
