"There is always time for lessons and sports"
Kaan who achieved the consecutive championships in Turkey and Balkan championship in 2017 says that "Sport and academic life can be carried out together. I love logistics management department , I want to develop myself in this field after graduation. Sailing sport is my passion. I have no idea to give up both."
Kaan Parlas (21), a student at IUE Faculty of Business Administration, Logistics Management Department, started to take care of water sports at the age of 11 with the guidance of her sailors' parents. Parlas, which developed itself in a short time focused on sailing. He participated in the championship across Turkey with his friend and ranked in almost all. Kaan, who preferred İzmir University of Economics for undergraduate education, continued his sports life with his lessons thanks to the support given to him by academics. During this time, he won the medal as a Balkan champion in 2017 and carried his achievements to the European arena. Kaan took second place in the "Eurolimpy Sailing Week" held in Athens in 2018, added another one to his achievements. Our student, who intends to continue sailing, dreams of reaching the championship by participating in the Olympic Games to be held in 2024.
Parlas said that it was not difficult for him to be interested in sailing while he was studying at the university. He says that "I never thought of such a thing. When you plan your time correctly, you can spare enough time for both sports and lessons. I think I am an example by accomplishing this. I am very interested in the logistics department. I am thinking of continuing my career in this field after graduation. It is very nice to study in a field I love. I will not leave the sail either. Sports kept me vigorous and healthy. It increased my concentration to my classes. I think it will also help me in business life. I want to attend the Olympics in 2024 and I will continue to prepare for this. ”
