Impact of Customs on Supply Chain Management

Crossing border brings some special requirements to companies for their whole supply chain management processes. Customs began to carry important roles in SCM and especially in foreign trade issues. The area of customs clearence, especially in emerging markets,is an unexplored issue. Due to its time and monetary importance, the processes of customs clearence should be examined in detail. Additionally, in global sourcing, the transparecy of the customs operations can be problematic and cause troubles for the companies. In this study the main aim is to enlight the customs operations in free zones, sea-ports, air-ports and in logistics villages via in-depth interviews. The differences and the obtained benefits in these areas will be stated. The upcoming customs applications and regulations will also be investigated.
The Importance of Packaging in Logistics Costs

The purpose of this paper is to study the importance of packaging in logistics costs. The knowledge and awareness of the importance of the packaging in logistics activities along the supply chain was low. Packing product into containers to be delivered to customers attract little attention of people. But in recent years, companies noticed that packaging of a product is a critical factor in logistics and they have started to analyze the packages’ characteristics (e.g. shape, materials, transport, etc.) in order to improve the performance of companies and minimize their costs. This term project is demonstrated through a case study. I will explain that how we transformed an existing packaging system for LCD speakers in electronic company.
An Interactive Approach for Multicriteria Logistics Problems

In this thesis, the main features of multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) problems will be summarized. A literature review will be provided on the convex cone based approaches for solving MCDM problems. The approaches will be analyzed in terms of question selection strategies and the total number of questions asked to the decision maker (DM). A new approach that aims to ask minimum possible number of questions to the DM will be developed. The proposed approach will be compared with the existing ones on the real life applications in the logistics sector, such as supply chain network design and supplier selection.

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a technique used for evaluating the relative efficiency of management units capable to make their own decisions. DEA method enables the researcher to make performance or efficiency benchmarking by determination of the excess use of inputs and shortfall production of outputs which could not be directly be implemented on multiple regression models. The focus of this study is to make a research on and evaluate relative efficiencies of selected supply support units of the Turkish Naval Supply Corps on an economical and cooperative standpoint.

This final project focuses on the importance of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in logistics sector. Moreover, we will see CRM applications for this industry. Aim of te research is comprehending the CRM at all points and advising about the implementations in logistics sector. This final Project consist of main three parts. General Concepts of CRM, Customer Relationship Management and logistic, final part is about a service industry, the logistics sector is on the Mars Logistics applied to customer relationship management applications with the results of them are presented.

Approximately five decades ago, it was possible to create wealth either through producing tangible products or through increasing productivity. However, several changes occurred throughout these years such as globalization, fierce competition, economic downtowns and developments in technology. Due to these changes, the marketplace and the landscape of the businesses have changed not just for manufacturing companies, but also for service providers. Thus, in order to survive, the ability to adapt to these changes become more important. One of the ways to adapt is to improve organisational innovation capability which can be achieved through technology, knowledge or relationship networks. Although, the literature provides several studies for financial service industries, the studies regarding the innovation in logistics are scarce. Therefore, the aim of this study is to understand the antecedents of innovation in logistics and how these innovations are being coordinated in these third-party logistics service providers.
