Course Objectives
Main purpose the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitutes related to ship agency and freight forwarding profession.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to explain the role & functions of shipping agents and airline agents (GSA) and forwarders as a member of logistics and sea & air transportation service distribution channel.
  • will be able to demonstrate relationship and communication skills about shipping agency, airline agency (GSA) and freight forwarder.
  • will be able to plan and manage the workflow between shipping agency, airline agency (GSA) and freight forwarder.
  • will be able to plan and manage pricing – profit making – negotiation techniques – strategies between shipping agency - airline agency (GSA) and freight forwarder.
  • will have knowledge and skills on crisis management between airline agency (GSA) and freight forwarder.
  • will have skills related to relationship management between global networks (forwarding agents association) and transportation agents (frieght forwarder).
  • will be able to explain the legal dimensions and responsibilities of shipping agency - Airline agency (GSA) and freight forwarder.
Course Description This course mainly covers the functions, roles and services of ship agencies and freight forwarders as an intermediaries in logistics and shipping industries. Duties and liabilities of ship agents and freight forwarders will be analyzed in case studies.
